Walking in Portland

Walking on Portland is good. Being part of the Jurassic Coast and the South West Coast Path it jolly well should be! And it won't disappoint. With stunning scenery to accompany you and rare and variied flora and fauna to see you can spend many happy hours walking around Portland.

There are many coastal walks as you would expect. As you walk your chosen route there is also a lot of history to view, from old railway and the Old Engine Shed to the 3 lighthouses at Portland Bill. A walk finishing at Portland was recently televised with Julia Bradbury doing her "Railway Walks".

Walks can be had through Portlands two butterfly reserves and many walks will take you down to Portland Bill where, on a clear day, you can see 190 miles of Coastal Path from Start Point in Soth Devon to Durlston Head looking eastwards.
